For the second year in a row, New Gen Rotary spearheaded a local blood drive with Life-stream. We had a great time, Cal Oaks Sports Park donated a portion of their parking lot and ball field for the day and we had a awesome amount of folks come through. Our goal was 25 pints and we got 25 pints! They had to turn 8 people away, people left due to the wait and we had 4 or 5 Rotarians who didn’t donate due to all the folks showing up that we didn’t want to turn away! With a second truck we could have had about 40 pints!

The most amazing fact was that out of 25 pint donations 10 were first time donors! A record! We had Cal Oaks Bowl bowling games and tickets to ACES Comedy Club for every donor, and of course Life-stream supplied the OJ and cookies!

We will be continuing this project next year and may do a mid-spring drive as well. At up to 3 lives saved per pint….. 25 pints ain’t too bad…
